    The Office of Theology and Worship in the Congregational Ministries 
Division in Louisville has announced the appointment of Martha Moore-Keish 
as Associate for Worship.  She succeeds the Rev. Glaucia Vasconcelos 
Wilkey, who resigned last fall to accept a teaching position at Seattle 
University. 
    Moore-Keish is a graduate of Harvard College (A.B., 1989) and Union 
Theological Seminary in Virginia (M.Div., 1994).  She is currently a 
doctoral candidate in Theological Studies at Emory University in Atlanta. 
Her dissertation topic, "Do This in Remembrance of Me," reflects her 
concern for the practice of worship in congregations. 
    As an Associate for Worship, Martha Moore-Keish will work on the 
development of liturgical resources for congregational worship and on a 
broad range of conferences and consultations.  She has begun her work in 
the Office of Theology and Worship on a half-time basis.  She will begin 
full-time employment on September 1.

    A book on the life and ministry of renowned Presbyterian preacher the 
Rev. Bruce Thielemann, who died in January 1994 at the age of 60, has been 
published by the Rev. John Zingaro, pastor of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church 
in Cottage Grove, Wis. 
    A preacher well-known for the vividness and power of his sermons, 
Theilemann was pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, dean of 
the chapel of Grove City College, pastor of Glendale (Calif.) Presbyterian 
Church and pastor of Immanuel Presbyterian Church of McKeesport, Pa., 
during his relatively short career.  Zingaro's book, "Thielemann: The 
Preacher's Preacher," consists of a biography, transcripts of three 
Thielemann talks on preaching, 11 of his sermons and articles by 21 
colleagues.

    Walter Brueggemann, professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological 
Seminary, and William Placher, professor of religion at Wabash College, 
will keynote the 2000 conference of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, 
Nov. 2-4 in Pittsburgh. 
    They will address the topic of "Biblical Authority and the Church," the 
theme of the conference.  They will be joined on the podium by Brian 
Blount, associate professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological 
Seminary. 
    Brueggemann is one of the best know biblical scholars in the country. 
Placher, served on the PC(USA) committees that drafted both "The Brief 
Statement of Faith" and the new Presbyterian catechism.  Blount is an 
associate editor of the PC(USA)'s Bible Content Exams for candidates and 
serves on the editorial boards of "Interpretation" and the "Journal of 
Biblical Literature."

    The Higher Education Program Area in the National Ministries Division 
in Louisville has announced a number of staff changes. 
    Beneva Bibb, currently budget analyst in Mission Support Services, is 
the new associate for racial ethnic schools and colleges.  Bibbs, who 
succeeds the Rev. Mary Newbern-Williams, previously spent nearly two years 
(1990-1993) with the Committee on Higher Education. 
    Frances Cook, currently serving as program assistant for student loans, 
will become the associate for financial aid for studies. She succeeds Tim 
McCallister, who has resigned to become associate for mission financial 
resources in the Evangelism and Church Development Program Area of the 
division. 
    Finally, Wanda O'Bannon has been named senior administrative assistant 
for the Higher Education Program Area.  She has been serving as senior 
administrative assistant for the Office of Women Advocacy in the Women's 
Ministries Program Area of the division.

    The Rev. William W. "Bill" Branch, Jr. was installed as the general 
presbyter of the Presbytery of Arkansas Friday, Feb. 18, during an 
installation service at Lyon College's Brown Chapel in Batesville. 
    Branch has served as a minister for 36 years prior to accepting the 
general presbyter post, including spending the past 24 years as pastor of 
Grace Presbyterian Church in Victoria, Texas.  He noted that his experience 
as an NCAA football referee will also help in his new position.
