PRINCETON, N.J. -- Princeton Theological Seminary awarded degrees to 256
students on May 15.  The was the institution's 188th commencement.  The
seminary conferred 162 master of divinity degrees, of which 92 were awarded
to Presbyterians.  Nineteen students received Ph.Ds, 48 received master of
theology degrees, 10 received master of arts degrees and 17, doctor of
ministry degrees.

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- With a $300,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation,
Inc., San Francisco Theological Seminary, Southern California, will be
seeking to double the number of degree candidates qualified for urban,
multicultural ministries.  The three-year grant will support development of
programs to expand recruitment and financial aid, as well as increasing
continuing education programs for pastors.  The model is, according to David
Tomlinson, the seminary's vice president, designed to provide a flexible,
non-residential program so that students may remain in their cultural
context as they train for ministry.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Teagle Foundation of New York is funding a cooperative
initiative between Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and its
neighboring instutitions, to creative a ecumenical center for Hispanic
theological education and ministry.  Partners in the endeavor are the
Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest and the Luthern Seminary
Program in the Southwest, a division of Wartburg Theological Seminary.  The
grant is for $470,000.

DECATUR, Ga. -- Columbia Theological Seminary graduated 106 students during
its commencement exercises on May 14.  The degrees were awarded in four
programs: master of divinity, master of arts in theological studies, master
of theology and doctor of ministry.  The Rev. Doug Oldenburg, president of
the seminary, preached the baccalaureate service.  Oldenburg is retiring
this year after 14 years of service to the seminary.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Center for Congregations and Family Ministries at
Louisville Seminary is hosting a multi-faith conference called, "But What Am
I?  Children and Interfaith Families," June 23-26, at the seminary.  The
keynote speaker is Rabbi Tirzah Firestone, who is a psychotherapist and a
founding rabbi of the Jewish Renewal Congregation in Boulder, Col.  Workshop
and panel topics include: "Choosing Your Child's Religion," "Planning the
Wedding Ceremony," "Daily Life in an Interfaith Family," and "Baby Naming,
Baptism, Welcoming Ceremonies, Rites of Passage and Bar Mitzvah."
