Native American seminarians receive scholarships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) - Thirteen United Methodist theological students
received a total of $160,500 in scholarship money raised through the Native
American Awareness Sunday Offering.
The Native American scholars are enrolled in seminaries approved by the
denomination's University Senate. The scholarships are given through the
Office of Loans and Scholarships of the United Methodist Board of Higher
Education and Ministry in Nashville.
The students and the schools they attend are:
· William A. Burns, Duke University, The Divinity School, Durham,
N.C.;
· Larry Chandler, Duke University, The Divinity School;
· Barry L. Collins, Perkins School of Theology, Dallas;
· Ricky Gassaway, Phillips Theological Seminary, Tulsa, Okla.;
· David L. Malcoom, Perkins School of Theology;
· Ronald Fay McKinstry, Drew University, The Theological School,
Madison, N.J.;
· Sylvia C. Huggins, Duke University, The Divinity School;
· Terry Hunt, Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Ky.;
· Herbert Lowry Jr., Duke University, The Divinity School;
· Walter C. Quoetone, Perkins School of Theology;
· Justine Smith, Garrett-Evangelical Theological School, Evanston,
Ill.;
· Deborah S. Wilkins, Duke University, The Divinity School; and
· Donna J. Wilson, Saint Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, Mo.
