Several organizations are monitoring Web sites that promote hate.
Besides maintaining a database, the Simon Wiesenthal Center
(www.wiesenthal.com) also releases a CD-ROM each year that updates
information on groups promoting bigotry and hate. Mark Weitzman, director of
the center's Task Force Against Hate, can be contacted by e-mail through the
Web site.
The Web site of the Anti-Defamation League (www.adl.org), which fights
anti-Semitism, offers news, teaching tips and resources for educators.
Hatewatch (www.hatewatch.org) is a Web-based organization monitoring hate
activity on the Internet.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (www.splcenter.org) has worked against white
supremacist groups for years and has developed a national tolerance
education program.
United Against Hate, an awareness campaign launched in July
(www.unitedagainsthate.org), is sponsored by the Leadership Conference on
Civil Rights and supported by 180 grass-roots organizations.
