Your coverage is welcome at the National Council of Churches annual General Assembly, to meet Nov. 14-17 in Atlanta, Ga. Opening is 1:30 p.m. on the 14th; adjournment at 11:45 a.m. on the 17th.
Key agenda items:
· Work on a decade-long "Mobilization to Overcome Poverty" and the "Expanding the Ecumenical Vision" initiative.
· Ecumenical reception honoring the National Council of Churches' President, Ambassador Andrew Young (serving in that office in 2000-2001).
The National Council of Churches is the nation's leading ecumenical organization, the venue of cooperative ministry by its 35 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican member communions. The Rev. Dr. Bob Edgar is General Secretary.
Church World Service and Witness, the NCC's humanitarian global response ministry, works in more than 80 countries in relief, development and refugee assistance. The Rev. John L. McCullough is Executive Director.
