INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- A veteran Indianapolis graphic designer has joined
the staff of the magazine of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ),
which has its international office here.

John L. Hurst, Jr., 46, was named art director of The Disciple by the Rev.
Patricia R. Case, editor-and-chief of the publication, effective Nov. 1.

Besides being responsible for the design of the 48-page magazine and its
promotional materials, Hurst assists with web site design and works on
projects with the magazine's publishing house, Disciples-related Christian
Board of Publication based in St. Louis.

Hurst is an experienced artist who has worked for the Indianapolis
newspaper The Recorder and for Indianapolis-based monthly magazine Indiana
Business. As a self-employed artist before joining The Disciple staff,
Hurst's design work included the annual African-American Indianapolis gala
called "Black Expo."
