REICHTER NAMED EXECUTIVE MINISTER FOR ABC OF WISCONSIN
The Rev. Dr. Arlo R. Reichter, senior pastor of First
Baptist Church, Anderson, Ind., for the past seven years,
has been named executive minister of the American Baptist
Churches of Wisconsin, effective March 1, 2001.
Reichter was elected to his new position Dec. 9 by the
region's Board of Managers. He succeeds the Rev. George E.
Daniels, who retired Aug. 31, 2000.
During Reichter's leadership at First Baptist in
Anderson, church membership and giving increased and a new
$2.2-million church facility was constructed. Previously
Reichter served for 10 years as vice president of program at
the American Baptist Assembly, Green Lake, Wis. Prior to
that he was copastor of First Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
Reichter holds a B.A. degree from Sioux Falls College,
an M.Div. degree from the American Baptist Seminary of the
West, a Master of Liberal Arts degree from the University of
Southern California and a D.Min. degree from Jesuit School
of Theology.
In announcing the selection of the search committee,
Chair Alan Newton said the committee was impressed with
Reichter's "ability to help our region move forward and to
unite around a common vision."
The American Baptist Churches of Wisconsin, one of 34
regions within American Baptist Churches USA, includes
approximately 78 churches and 9,300 resident members.
