107th U.S. Congress includes 44 Presbyterians
Republicans outnumber Democrats, 27-17

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Washington Office has
published a list of the 44 Presbyterians who are members of the 107th United
States Congress.
There are 34 PC(USA) members of the U.S. House of Representatives -- 20
Republicans and 14 Democrats -- and 10 U.S. Senate Presbyterians, including
seven Republicans and three Democrats.
Eight of the Presbyterians in the 107th Congress are new, first term
members. Five of them are Republicans and three are Democrats.
The 34 PC(USA) members of the U.S. House of Representatives (first-termers
marked with an asterisk) are: Ken Bentsen (D-TX), *Shelley Moore Capito
(R-WV), Eva Clayton (D-NC), Howard Coble (R-NC), Diana DeGette (D-CO), John
J. Duncan Jr. (R-TN), Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO), Bobby R. Etheridge (D-NC),
Porter J. Goss (R-FL), Jim Greenwood (R-PA), *Robin Hayes (R-NC), Joel
Hefley (R-CO), Sue W. Kelly (R-NY), Jerry Lewis (R-CA), John Linder (R-GA),
Carolyn B. Mahoney (D-NY), Mike McIntyre (D-NC), George Nethercutt (R-WA),
Earl Pomeroy (D-ND), Deborah Pryce (R-OH), Nick Rahall II (D-WV), *Thomas M.
Reynolds (R-NY), *Jim Ryun (R-KS), Thomas C. Sawyer (D-OH), Vic Snyder
(D-AR), John M. Spratt Jr. (D-SC), Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Mac Thornberry
(R-TX), Frederick S. Upton (R-MI), Wes Watkins (R-OK), Melvin Watt (D-NC),
Frank R. Wolf (R-VA), Lynn C. Woolsey (D-CA) and *David Wu (D-OR).
The 10 PC(USA) members of the U.S. Senate are: *George Allen (R-VA),
Christopher Bond (R-MO), *Thomas R. Carper (D-DE), *Mark Dayton (D-MN), Mike
Enzi (R-WY), Bill Frist (R-TN), James M. Inhofe (R-OK), John Kyl (R-AZ),
John D. Rockefeller IV (D-WV), and Richard Shelby (R-AL).
