WALKER NAMED EXECUTIVE MINISTER FOR ABC 
OF THE DAKOTAS
 The Rev. Dr. Riley H. Walker was approved 
unanimously by the Region Policy Board of the American 
Baptist Churches of the Dakotas Jan. 19 as that region's 
next executive minister. 
 He will assume his new responsibilities April 1. The 
Rev. Truman Sproles has been serving as interim 
executive minister since the retirement of Dr. Ronald E. 
Cowles last July. 
 Walker has served as area minister for the 
American Baptist Churches of Indiana for the past eight 
and a half years.  Previously he pastored First Baptist 
Church, Bedford, Ind.; First Baptist Church, Summitville, 
Ind.; and Burney Baptist Church, Burney, Ind. 
 He holds a B.A. degree from Bellarmine College, 
Louisville, Ky.; an M.Div. degree from Southern Baptist 
Theological Seminary, Louisville; and a D.Min. degree from 
McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago.
 The American Baptist Churches of the Dakotas, 
one of 34 regions within American Baptist Churches USA, 
includes approximately 52 churches and 5,600 resident 
members.
