Doug Tindal, director of information resources with the Anglican Church of
Canada, has resigned to take a consulting position with a new interfaith
website serving mainline denominations in the United States. Mr. Tindal's
resignation is effective on May 11.

Mr. Tindal will provide editorial direction and content development for the
site, FaithandValues.com, on a contract basis from his home in Burlington,
Ont. The website is based in Lexington, KY.

Mr. Tindal's departure leaves a hole in the information resources
department, the national church's largest with more than 30 staff. He
oversaw the work of the Anglican Journal, the national church website, the
Journal's circulation, management of the church's membership database,
Anglican Video, the Anglican Book Centre, ABC Publishing, archives and
library.

The national office's management team has begun a search for an interim
media relations consultant, said Archdeacon Jim Boyles, General Secretary,
as much of Mr. Tindal's work in recent months had been fielding media
queries. The management team will also ensure the media office at this
summer's meeting of General Synod is staffed, added Mr. Boyles. Synod meets
in Waterloo from July 4 - 11.

After joining the national office in 1987 as director of communications,
Mr. Tindal became director of the larger information resources group
following restructuring in 1995.

FaithandValues.com, backed by the National Interfaith Cable Coalition, the
largest coalition of Christian and Jewish faith groups in the U.S., is
intended to help mainline denominations extend their reach into cyberspace,
said Mr. Tindal.

Launched in March with little fanfare, the FaithandValues.com site is a
clearinghouse for spiritual resources - mostly print so far, but it will
expand to include audio and video. A recent visit offered feature articles
on teen sexuality, loneliness and forgiveness, and countless offerings from
the 70 representative faith groups, arranged by topic (for example, angels,
mental health, money matters), and faith and educational resources grouped
by denomination. There will also be some e-commerce on the site, Mr. Tindal
added.

The new job will likely feed Mr. Tindal's interest in new media. During a
1999 sabbatical, he examined ways in which people were using the Internet
to express and inform their spirituality.
