Medical volunteers are urgently needed in Mozambique, according to Walt and
Betty Whitehurst, consultants for individual volunteers with the United
Methodist Board of Global Ministries.
In addition, professors are being sought for the 2001-2002 school year in
Zimbabwe and Lithuania.
The Chicuque Rural Hospital in Mozambique needs board-certified medical
professionals in the areas of surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics,
ophthalmology, dentistry, and ear, nose and throat care.
In Zimbabwe, United Methodist-related Africa University needs professors of
psychology and sociology. Although one- to two-year terms are preferable,
one-semester terms also can be arranged.
Lithuania Christian College, an ecumenical school, is seeking professors of
English and business for the fall semester, beginning in September. The
school would also welcome volunteer instructors in history, philosophy,
sociology, psychology and German.
Volunteers serve at their own expense but can solicit financial support from
their local churches, family and friends. For more information, contact the
Whitehursts by writing to 1761 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456,
or calling (757) 426-2461. Queries also can be sent by e-mail to
IndVol@aol.com.
