Third Way Cyber Café will bring e-mail access to Nashville
HARRISONBURG, Va. (MBM) – In following the current trend of
Internet cafés, an area at Nashville 2001 will be set up for
participants to check their e-mail. Mennonite Media, a
department of Mennonite Board of Missions, is sponsoring the
Third Way Cyber Café in the “mTOWN” performance and exhibit area.
Users will be able to correspond with family and friends at home
for no charge through their own web-based e-mail accounts, and
have remote access to any existing e-mail address.
The café will also allow them to access the latest convention
newsletter online or explore the World Wide Web, including the
sites of the sponsoring groups.
To cover the cost of a T-1 fast access line, several
organizations have agreed to sponsor tables at the café. Eastern
Mennonite University is providing computers purchased as part of
its annual campus computer upgrade program, and have loaned them
to Mennonite Media for use at the Cyber Café. According to Sheri
Hartzler, coordinator for the Cyber Café, the idea for Third Way
Cyber Café came as a result of people wanting to access e-mail on
the computers at the Mennonite Media booth at St. Louis 99.
In addition to Internet and e-mail access, convention-goers will
be able to check out the newest features of the Third Way Café
web site, including “Seeing Jesus,” a section containing artwork
and reflection on who Jesus is; a Spanish version of basic
beliefs; a brief history; peace teachings; and photos of people
attending Nashville 2001.
The Cyber Café will be located near one of the main entrances to
mTOWN. The space will be monitored, and technical help will be
available during the hours mTOWN is open. Russ Neufeld will
serve as webmaster for the café during the convention.
Groups sponsoring tables at the Third Way Cyber Café include:
? Bethel (Kans.) College
? Bluffton (Ohio) College
? Eastern Mennonite University
? Goshen (Ind.) College
? Hesston (Kans.) College
? Mennonite Board of Missions
