LCMS delegates vote to combine two commissions
ST. LOUIS Delegates to the 61st Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church
Missouri Synod, meeting here at the America s Center, voted July 16 to
combine two Synod commissions the Commission on Organizations and the
Commission on Theology and Church Relations.
The Commission on Organizations (COO) was established to provide
information and counsel to LCMS members and congregations on religious
organizations, including non-Christian groups and cults. Due to budgetary
constraints, the Commission on Theology and Church Relations (CTCR) has
been providing staff services for the COO since 1993.
The delegates action discontinues the COO as a "separately functioning
commission" and moves COO functions to the CTCR.
