GROGAN RETIRES TODAY AS EXECUTIVE FOR MID-
AMERICAN BAPTIST CHURCHES
 Dr. Gary L. Grogan retires today after serving 
seven years as executive minister of Mid-American Baptist 
Churches, one of 34 regions within American Baptist 
Churches USA.
 Grogan has provided regional leadership for the 
approximately 162 congregations and 26,000 resident 
members of churches in Iowa and Minnesota since 1994.
 Prior to his region work he served as pastor of 
First Baptist Church, Fort Dodge, Ia., from 1976-1994.  He 
previously was pastor of First Baptist Church of Turner, 
Kansas City, Kans., and held pastoral positions in churches 
in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
 He has been active in denominational leadership, 
as a member of the Regional Executive Ministers Council 
and Midwest Commission on the Ministry, among many 
other responsibilities.
 Mid-American Baptist Churches hosted the 1999 
Biennial Meeting of American Baptist Churches USA, held 
in Des Moines.
 A search process for a new executive for the 
region is underway.
