PC(USA) missionaries in Pakistan are evacuated

Back in the U.S., they are available to speak to interested groups

by Bill Lancaster

TEMPE, Ariz. - Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mission personnel in Pakistan
were brought home very quickly after the Sept. 11 attack on New York City
and the Pentagon.

Now back in the U.S., they are available and interested in visiting
churches to tell about the situation in Pakistan.

The Rev. Jim and Dr. Carol Brees were located at the Sialkot Hospital in
Sialkot, Pakistan. He was a hospital administrator and she served as head
of the obstetrics-gynecology department.

Tom and Leslie McCullough were in Gujranwala, Pakistan, where he served in
a development agency.

To schedule them in a congregation, presbytery, or synod, call Peter
Kemmerle, associate for mission connections, at 1-888-728-7228 ex. 5612.
E-mail him at PeterK@ctr.pcusa.org.

The PC(USA) has a long history of mission work in Pakistan, mostly in the
areas of health and education. An extensive property-owner in Pakistan, the
PC(USA) is slowly transferring its holdings to the Presbyterian Church in
Pakistan as that partner church develops the means to maintain and
administer them.

The Presbyterian Church continues to support relief efforts in Pakistan
through Church World Service, the relief agency affiliated with the National
Council of Churches.
