Advent Calendar

LOUISVILLE - Renowned Presbyterian photographer and poet David P. Young
trains his pen and camera on the faces of children around the world and
creates inspirational daily reflections in Presbyterian Today's 2001 Advent
Calendar.
In "Searching for the Christ Child," Young's photographs of children of
humble birth, children at play, and children caught in the midst of ethnic
war stimulate reflection on what it means to be a child of God.
The calendar also includes daily scripture selections, meditations and
prayers written by Young to accompany his photos.
"We believe the global focus of this year's Advent Calendar is especially
timely in light of recent events," Presbyterians Today editor Eva Stimson
told the Presbyterian News Service.
A special audio version of the daily Advent Calendar meditations will be
available on the Presbyterian Church (USA) web site during the days of
advent at www.pcusa.org. Excerpts from the Advent Calendar can be previewed
now at www.pcusa.org/today.
Presbyterians Today subscribers will receive "Searching for the Christ
Child" in their December issue of the magazine. Additional copies of the
Advent Calendar are available for $2.50 each, $1.50 each for 10-19 copies,
and $.75 each for orders of 20 copies or more.
To order, call Presbyterian Distribution Service at 1-800-524-2612 (ask for
product # 68-270-01-020), log onto the magazine's web site at
www.pcusa.org/today, or mail your order to Presbyterians Today, Dept. 459,
Louisville, KY 40289-0000.
This year's Presbyterians Today Advent Calendar is coming off record sales
the past three years, with authors Houston Hodges, Kathleen Norris and Carol
Bechtel.
