TV special on forgiveness to be shown by ABC

PC(USA) partnered with NCC, Mennonites on Dec. 2 program

by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE - "Journey Toward Forgiveness," a documentary produced by
Mennonite Media for the National Council of Churches (NCC), will be released
to ABC network television stations on Dec. 2.

While the documentary was not planned in response to the Sept. 11 events,
the stories nevertheless speak to emotions felt by nearly all in grief's
aftermath.

"When we are ready to explore forgiveness, we don't know where to start, how
long it will take, what steps may be involved, or where to turn for help,"
wrote the Interfaith Broadcasting Commission (IBC), which sponsored the
documentary as part of its "Vision and Values" series. The Presbyterian
Church (USA) is an IBC partner.

"Journey Toward Forgiveness" chronicles several stories of people at
different stages of forgiveness. Some are not even ready to forgive, and
others have been on a lifelong trek towards that goal.

A website, www.journeytowardforgiveness.com, augments the stories from the
documentary with practical advice, inspiration, and resources for facing
forgiveness issues in one's own life.

The program will be aired at each local ABC affiliate's discretion. Check
local listings for airtime in your viewing area.
