UPDATE: AMERICAN BAPTISTS CONTINUE TO GIVE
TO SEPT. 11 RELIEF EFFORTS
American Baptists have continued to give
generously in supporting those affected by the tragedies
of Sept. 11 that claimed nearly 5,000 lives in New York
City, Virginia and southwestern Pennsylvania.
As of Dec. 20 American Baptists throughout the
U.S. had contributed $923,866.17 in One Great Hour of
Sharing monies designated to assist victims of the terrorist
attacks.
American Baptists wishing to continue to support
relief efforts can do so through normal channels--One
Great Hour of Sharing (line 7 of the Monthly Report of
Mission Support), designating contributions "OGHS--Relief
Fund for Victims of Terrorist Attacks." Those wishing to
contribute online can do so through a special OGHS fund
established to help the victims and their families. This can
be done by accessing the "American Baptist Missions" or
"Give Now" pages of the ABCUSA Web site--www.abc-
usa.org.
Updated information and complete press releases
issued since the Sept. 11 tragedies are available on the
American Baptist Churches USA Web site-www.abc-
usa.org. See also features in the Fall and
November/December issues of American Baptists In
Mission magazine.
