LUTTON ASSUMES DEVELOPMENT
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ABW MINISTRIES
Kristine L. Lutton of Bozeman, Mont., has been
named associate executive director for development in
American Baptist Women's Ministries, effective Jan. 14.
Executive Director Virginia Holmstrom announced the
appointment for the new position.
Lutton will carry primary responsibility for
developing and implementing funding strategies for the
organization, as well as for designing communication
strategies and tools for communicating the mission of
American Baptist Women's Ministries. She also will help
lead the organization with long-range planning.
Lutton co-founded Strategies, Inc., a consulting
firm that assists corporations and nonprofit organizations
with their unique communication and fund development
challenges, in 1993. She brings a breadth of experiences
from her work with nonprofit organizations, much of it
pertinent to ABW Ministries and AB GIRLS, Holmstrom
noted. Her consulting work with a Girl Scout council
helped it to create an image that attracted younger
women and their daughters to the organization and raised
the level of financial support.
From 1989 to 1993 Lutton was director of
marketing for Hospital Development Inc. (HDI), a national
fund development consulting company serving the
healthcare industry. The company's rapid growth was
attributed to her ability to effectively direct financial and
human resources in the implementation of its strategic
plan.
Lutton served for four years as a state board
member of the National Society of Fund Raising
Executives.
She is a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Clarks
Summit, Pa. A member of First Baptist Church of
Bozeman, she serves as the conference chairperson on the
Montana ABW Ministries board.
"I believe that God has been preparing Kris Lutton
to serve in this new role with American Baptist Women's
Ministries," said Holmstrom. "Our board and staff are
excited about the seasoned experience and skills she
brings in areas of organizational development and fund
raising. Kris is a real `people person' who I'm sure will
help strengthen our outreach and ministries among girls
and women. I am grateful for her desire to serve Jesus
Christ in this ministry."
The mission of American Baptist Women's
Ministries is to provide vision, training and resources for
ministries with women and girls in American Baptist
Churches USA. The organization provides opportunities
for women and girls to "become and develop as God's
person, build God's faith community, and serve God's
world." The ABW Ministries national board is currently
engaged in a strategic planning process to set vision and
strategies to better equip local churches for women's
ministries.
