Author of best first book to be honored

by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE - The Presbyterian Writers Guild is seeking entries for its ninth
annual Angell Award, given to the Presbyterian writer judged to have
published the best first book in the previous year.

Initiated in 1993, the award honors the life and work of the Rev. James W.
Angell, the author of 19 books, including the best-selling How to Spell
Presbyterian.

The award for 2001 and a $500 prize will be presented at the Guild's annual
General Assembly luncheon. Last year's recipient was Stephen P. McCutchan of
Winston-Salem, NC, for his book Experiencing the Psalms: Weaving the Psalms
into Your Ministry and Faith.

To be eligible for the award, books must be copyrighted in 2001. Books,
along with the writer's curriculum vitae, may be sent to Cathy Chisholm, 206
S. Pine Street, P.O. Box 549, Weyauwega WI 54983. Deadline for submissions
is April 1, 2002.
