Authors will be available online to talk about their works
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE - The Presbyterian Publishing Corporation will be hosting a five-book discussion series on PresbyNet, the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s computer communication network.
The series begins on March 4 with the launch of a month-long discussion of Judas: Images of the Lost Disciple, featuring online conversation with the author, Kim Paffenroth. The discussion will run through March 29.
The second book in the series will be The Faith of Fifty Million: Baseball, Religion and American Culture. The discussion begins on April 1, opening day of the 2002 baseball season, and runs through April 26. Editor and contributor Donald McKim will be available for conversation online.
Wayne Willis will be online during the May 6-31 discussion of his book, P.S. God Can You Fly?
The fourth book in the series, to be discussed from June 3-28, is Watching What We Watch: Prime Time Television Through the Lens of Faith. That discussion will be led by the Rev. John C.R. Silbert, a consultant for church and public media at the Presbyterian Media Mission in Pittsburgh.
The final book in the series is PPC's best-selling The Gospel According to the Simpsons, based on theological insights of the characters on the award-winning television show. The leader for the Aug. 5-30 discussion has not been announced.
