Earth Day resources available online
April 21 designated for reflection on world's endangered species
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE - For the first time, the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Environmental Justice Office has produced Earth Day materials for Presbyterian congregations.
They are available on the PC(USA) Web site - www.pcusa.org/environment/earthday - for congregations wishing to take part in this year's observance of Earth Day on Sunday, April 22.
This year's resources - collectively titled "Protection of God's Creatures" - focus on saving endangered species, in response to the 2001 General Assembly's call for "preserving biodiversity and halting mass extinction."
The resources include background information and reflections on the issues, sermon notes and a discussion guide, liturgical aids, photos and graphics and links to resources available at other Web sites.
To obtain hard copies of the resources, call Rebecca Barnes-Davies of the Environmental Justice Office at (888) 728-7228, ext. 5811.
