SUMMER 2002 MOSAIC FOCUSES ON THE CHURCH AND WEDDINGS
02-117-JB
CHICAGO (ELCA) -- The summer 2002 edition of MOSAIC, the video
magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), focuses
on the church and weddings in today's culture. The program, "Weddings as
Worship: Helping Couples Understand," is available June 1.
The program examines how the church's expectations for weddings
may differ from the wishes of the people to be married. Topics such as
music, family relationships, congregations and weddings, and how
weddings fit into the life of the church are discussed in the program.
The issue also includes MOSAIC's new host, Melissa O. Ramirez.
Ramirez, associate director for news and information, ELCA Department
for Communication, was appointed to the role earlier this year. She
succeeded John Bachman and the Rev. M. Wyvetta Bullock, who were
longtime hosts of the program.
With Ramirez on the team, MOSAIC can now be recorded with the host
on location, said Tim Frakes, associate director for interpretation and
MOSAIC producer, ELCA Department for Communication. "This makes the
program much more dynamic," he said. "In September we plan to go on
location with Melissa in Leipzig, Germany, for a program on the life of
J.S. Bach."
MOSAIC is produced and distributed by the Department for
Communication. It is intended for educational use in a variety of
congregational settings including Sunday school classes, adult forums,
youth groups, women's and men's groups, new member classes, church
council meetings, committee meetings and other organizational meetings.
Each issue includes a user guide with a synopsis of each segment and
discussion questions. MOSAIC is issued quarterly.
Annual subscriptions are available through the Department for
Communication.
