Day of committee deliberations starts with prayer
by Nancy Rodman
COLUMBUS, OH - Monday, June 17, the first full day of committee meetings at the 214th General Assembly, began on a reflective note with a service of morning prayer.
"First-timers, old hands, elected TSADs and YADs, reporters, lobbies, and GA junkies," in the words of one speaker, were all invited to reflect on the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin and prodigal son. They offered prayers of thanksgiving and intercession, made note of the recent headline news, and joined their voices in song.
The liturgists and musicians were the Rev. Paul Kim and the Rev. Sue Sterling Montgomery, elders Jeannie C. Harsh and Larry G. Criswell, and Pauline Swinehart and Dr. Sandra Mathias.
