American Baptist News Service (7/9/02)--Siegrid Belden, American Baptist
National Ministries' director of Community-based Ministries, has announced
her resignation, effective Sept. 30.

She is leaving to join her husband in developing a consulting ministry that
seeks to empower community ministry leaders to maximize their potential for
bringing the love of Jesus Christ to persons of special need.

As director of Community-based Ministries Belden supports and coordinates
National Ministries' relationships with The Neighborhood Action Program, a
network of 20 mission centers throughout the United States; The Christians
Caring for Communities Network, a network of churches serving communities
through a variety of caring ministries; and The Parish Nurse Health
Ministries Network, a network of persons serving their congregations and
communities through ministries of health.

"Siegrid has provided visionary leadership to the Neighborhood Action
Program as well as emerging ministries of caring across the United States
and Puerto Rico," said the Rev. Hictor Cortez, National Ministries'
associate executive director for Biblical Justice. "She has a passion to
support and guide these ministries as they struggle to keep up with and
acclimate to the changing nonprofit world."

Belden began her work with National Ministries in 1994 as an intern in the
Division of Social Ministries. Prior to her appointment as director of
Community-based Ministries in 1999 she served four years as National
Ministries' director of Economic Justice. Belden was commissioned an
American Baptist home missionary in 1997.

Of her service with National Ministries Belden said, "I thank God for the
privilege of serving Jesus Christ as a home missionary these past eight
years. My life and faith have been enriched, especially as I ministered
with my Biblical Justice Ministry Center colleagues."
