Sept. 27-29 conference aims
at helping Christian families
Registration remains open for a Sept. 27-29 family-ministry conference in
St. Louis sponsored by Family Shield Ministries, Inc., a recognized service
organization of the Synod.
"This conference will strengthen the life and faith of Christian families
by examining family nurturing, parenting skills, family-ministry leadership
and new family-ministry paradigms," said Kay Meyer, founder and president
of Family Shield Ministries.
She said that the conference will offer "practical, ready-to-use ministry
ideas for the home and parish, valuable networking opportunities, and time
for sharing successes and gathering ideas for effective family ministry."
Among scheduled speakers are Rev. Roger Sonnenberg, an LCMS pastor and
author of family-related books, of Arcadia, Calif.; Rev. Jeffery Schubert,
director of LCMS District and Congregational Services (DCS) -- Family
Ministry, St. Louis; Dr. Mary Manz Simon, author and speaker from
Belleville, Ill.; Dr. James Lamb, executive director of Lutherans For Life,
Nevada, Iowa; Rev. Al Erickson, founder and director of Adults Saving Kids,
Minneapolis; and Dr. Judith Christian, director of DCS -- Child Ministry,
St. Louis.
With the theme "Me and My House," the conference also will feature
exhibits, a banquet, Bible studies and a Sunday-morning worship service.
Registration is $125, covering all conference sessions and three meals.
Several partial scholarships are available to offset the fee. For a
registration brochure, call (877) 242-8437 or e-mail cmdebrecht@msn.com.
