El CMI convoca una consulta internacional  Cristiano - musulmana

El Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) acogera una consulta internacional sobre
"Cristianos y Musulmanes en y mas alla del dialogo". La consulta, de tres
dmas, tendra lugar del 16 al 18 de octubre de 2002 en el Centro Ecuminico de
Ginebra, Suiza.

El Dr Tarek Mitri, del Sector de Relaciones y Dialogo Interreligiosos del
CMI, dice que el CMI ha invitado a 40 participantes a reunirse para realizar
"un examen crmtico del estado actual de las relaciones entre sus respectivas
comunidades y una evaluacisn de lo que se ha conseguido." Aqade que los
debates incluiran "una exploracisn de prioridades para el futuro", que segzn
las previsiones se orientaran hacia la accisn comzn a nivel local.

La reunisn sera copresidida por el moderador del CMI,  S.S. Aram I, patriarca
de la Sede de Cilicia de la Iglesia Apostslica Armenia (Antelias, Lmbano) y
el Dr Mohamed S. El-Awa, abogado y jurisperito de Egipto. 

El dma de la apertura tomaran la palabra, en torno al tema "Reflexiones sobre
el estado actual de las relaciones entre musulmanes y cristianos", los
siguientes participantes: 

Excmo. Dr Abdelouahed Belkeziz, secretario general de la Organizacisn de la
Conferencia Islamica 

Excmo.	Sayyid Mohammad Ali Abtahi, presidente del Instituto para el Dialogo
Interreligioso y vicepresidente de la Repzblica Islamica del Iran   

Excmo. Dr Mohamed Ahmed Al-Sherif, secretario general, "Islamic Call Society"

Excmo. Dr Hamid Bin Ahmand Al-Rifaie, presidente, Foro Islamico Internacional
para el Dialogo

Los puntos de vista cristianos seran presentados por el Excmo. Arzobispo
Michael Fitzgerald, presidente del "Consejo para el Dialogo Interreligioso"
vaticano y el Rev. Dr Konrad Raiser, secretario general del Consejo Mundial
de Iglesias.					      

Informacisn para el personal de prensa:
Se invita a los periodistas a asistir a las sesiones en el Centro Ecuminico
en Ginebra el miircoles 16 de octubre hasta las 16.00 horas. 
Una conferencia de prensa en inglis tendra lugar a las 12.30 en la Sala
Principal del Centro Ecuminico.    
Los participantes concederan entrevistas previa solicitud. El Centro esta
equipado con una lmnea ISDN.

El Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) es una comunidad de 342 iglesias,
procedentes de mas de 100 pamses de todos los continentes y de la mayor parte
de las tradiciones cristianas. La Iglesia Catslica Romana no es una iglesia
miembro pero mantiene relaciones de cooperacisn con el CMI. El srgano rector
supremo es la Asamblea, que se rezne aproximadamente cada siete aqos. El CMI
se constituys oficialmente en 1948 en Amsterdam (Pamses Bajos). Al frente del
personal del CMI esta su Secretario General, Konrad Raiser, de la Iglesia
Evangilica de Alemania.
