2003 'Mission Yearbook' is off the press

God's creation is theme of the 111th edition

by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE - The 2003 edition of the Presbyterian Church (USA) Mission
Yearbook for Prayer and Study - the church's most comprehensive guide to
mission around the world - is now available.
Used by thousands of Presbyterians daily, the Mission Yearbook
features hundreds of stories and photographs of people in mission in the
United States and overseas; minutes for mission that follow the liturgical
themes and programmatic emphases of the denomination; prayer lists of
denominational staff and leaders and Presbyterians in mission and their
overseas partners; daily lectionary readings and suggested hymns; educational
and theological institutions related to the PC(USA); synod and presbytery
maps; and demographic profiles of the countries where Presbyterians are
engaged in mission.
The theme of the 2003 yearbook is "The Earth is the Lord's and All
Those Who Live in It," taken from Psalm 24:1. Special features of the new
edition are:

*	a personal message from the Rev. Fahed Abu-Akel, moderator of the
214th General Assembly (2002)
*	perforated pages that can be removed and carried with readers when
they travel
*	an introductory essay that introduces readers to the 2003 book and
its themes

Also featured in the new book is a color insert, "The Creator, the Creation,
and Us," by noted theologian Walter Brueggemann. Using Isaiah 11 as his text,
Brueggemann writes: "The future God intends is a human project, depending on
human agents who delight God by the exercise of power and wisdom in the
interest of the common good."

each or $7.50 each for10 or more copies (plus shipping) by calling
Presbyterian Distribution Service at 800-524-2612.
Limited copies of Brueggemann's insert are also available at $2 each,
