PresbyNet plans "live chat" on Iraq
Conversation will feature international participants
by Jerry L. Van Marter
LOUISVILLE - The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program is sponsoring a "live chat"
on Iraq, March 13 at Noon on PresbyNet, the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s
computer communication network.
The one-hour chat - "International Voices on Iraq" - will feature a number of
Muslim and Christian leaders from around the world, including two people who
participated in last fall's Interfaith Listening Project. That project
brought pairs of Christian and Muslim leaders from 10 countries to share with
Presbyterian audiences their experiences of Christian-Muslim dialogue and
understanding.
Featured participants in the "live chat" are:
* Hadeel Ghoneim, a writer and editor from Egypt. Ghoneim, a Muslim,
participated in the Interfaith Listening Project.
* The Rev. Philip Woods, a Christian who is Secretary for International
Relations for the United Reformed Church in England.
* Ismat Mehdi, a Muslim teacher from India who teaches at the Henry Martyn
Institute of Islamic Studies. She also participated in the Interfaith
Listening Project.
* The Rev. Mitri Raheb, a Lutheran pastor in Bethlehem who is currently
serving as missionary-in-residence at the Presbyterian Center in Louisville.
* The chat will be moderated by Barry Creech, coordinator of information and
planning in the PC(USA)'s Office of Communication.
Persons who would like to ask questions of the panel can email them to
