PHEWA presents ministry awards

DENVER, May 27 - The Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association
presented awards Monday to agencies, institutions and individuals who
represent "what the church really is," in the words of PHEWA President Bob
Brashear.
The Florence Iversen Kraft Award, for congregational ministry to
people and families affected by serious mental illness, was presented to
Capitol Heights Presbyterian Church, of Denver.
The Margaret A. Fuad Award, for service in Presbyterians for
Addiction Action, went to Eleanore Schafer, of Phoenix, AZ.
St. Andrews Presbyterian College, in Laurinburg, NC, won the Nancy
Jennings Award for Excellence in Ministry and Services with Persons with
Disabilities.
The Community Ministries and Neighborhood Organizations PACT Award
went to Interfaith Council for the Homeless, of Chicago.
The PACT Award in the Urban Network of Congregational Leaders was
given to First Presbyterian Church, of Joplin, MO.
