DENVER, May 28-Every day, participants and guests attending the 215th General
Assembly here are greeted by a host of regional volunteers sporting purple
sashes bearing the invitation, "Ask me."

Jane Wiltshire, co-chair of the information subcommittee of the
Committee on Local Arrangements (COLA), said the assignment of helpful
volunteers to busy intersections in cavernous Denver Convention Center is
making the Assembly hospitable and simplifying navigation.

"Our job," Wiltshire said, "is to welcome commissioners, help put
them at ease, make it easy for them to get where they need to go, and ease
their transitions. These (commissioners) are busy people, and they have work
to do."

The Information Desk she assembled is stocked full of Denver City
Guides, restaurant menus, regional tour books and maps. In addition, her
corps of more than 150 volunteers help guests with transportation to and from
the airport, explain Denver's transit system, recommend free-time activities,
give directions to Coors Field for baseball games and answer such specific
questions as, "How can I buy one of those Communion chalices?"

While most of the inquiries they field are of a practical nature, a
number of Presbyterians have asked such difficult questions as, "How do I get
to heaven?," "Where did I park my car?," "Is there a God?" and "Am I hungry?"

Wiltshire said virtually all the questioners have been good-natured.

Asked what's in the "Presbyterian" hoagie for sale at the deli in the
convention center, Wiltshire answers: "Baloney-of course!"
