	SELC District re-elects Krueger

	Rev. Carl H. Krueger Jr. was unanimously re-elected to his third
term as president of the SELC District at the district's 100th
Anniversary Convention, June 26-29 in Lake Mary, Fla.

	Also re-elected were First Vice President Rev. Andrew J.
Dzurovcik, Clark, N.J., and Second Vice President Rev. Christopher
Cahill, Lodi, Ohio.

	Among actions taken, delegates reaffirmed the district's
commitment to establishing new missions by setting a goal of planting 11
congregations during the next decade.

	In other action, delegates:

	* rejected a proposed resolution to form a "southern" circuit.

	* reaffirmed the Synod's practice of basing doctrinal positions
on Scripture alone.

	* voted to send a message to the LCMS Board of Directors to
increase funding to the seminaries by directing the district to reduce
its annual financial commitment to the Synod's general fund by 10
percent, and redirecting that amount to be divided equally between the
two seminaries.

	Delegates also adopted a number of resolutions supporting North
America missions, the "Ablaze" initiative, the Center for Asian Missions
and Evangelism, the continuation of the "theological conference model,"
the "What A Way" recruitment and retention initiative, "blanket"
subscriptions to "The Lutheran Witness," investments in the Lutheran
Church Extension Fund (LCEF) and the use of LCEF resources, affirmation
of Lutherans For Life and the rejection of the partial-birth abortion
procedure, and involvement in volunteer missionary opportunities.
