	First Hispanic convention set
	for Aug. 1-5 in Los Angeles

	The Missouri Synods first National Lutheran Hispanic Convention
is scheduled for Aug. 1-5 at the LAX Marriott Hotel, Los Angeles.

	LCMS members involved in Hispanic ministry previously gathered
every three years at a national Hispanic conference sponsored by the
Synods Board for Mission Services. The convention, which also will be
held every three years, will take the place of the conference. It will
be held independently of the mission board.

	The convention is sponsored by the National Hispanic Mission
Society, with funding from the Lutheran Church Extension Fund and the
Synods Texas, Pacific Southwest and English Districts. It is open to
anyone interested in Hispanic outreach, according to organizer Rev. Eloy
Gonzalez.

	Keynote addresses will be presented by Dr. Justo Gonzalez,
historian, writer and professor at Columbia Theological Seminary,
Decatur, Ga.; Dr. Douglas Groll, director of the Hispanic Institute of
Theology of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; and Synod President Gerald
Kieschnick.

	Registration is $75 and includes meals. To register, contact
