American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 7/17/03)--American Baptist
Women's Ministries has available several new resources that respond to the
organization's strategic goal to provide relevant and contemporary resources
for ministries with women and girls.

Real Women, Real Leaders: Dynamic Leadership for Women's Ministries is a
multimedia kit designed to develop leaders who embody confidence and
competence in Christ. Real Women, Real Leaders, which helps women to
understand themselves as called by God to use their spiritual gifts, gives
women tools for leadership. The leader training also encourages participants
to learn new things about themselves, see new possibilities in the women and
girls around them, and envision news ways of doing traditional ministries,
as well as sensitizing them to be alert for ministry needs. "The resource
can be adapted easily for broader use; some pastors purchased the resource
with the intent to use it with their church leaders," said Virginia
Holmstrom, executive director of American Baptist Women's Ministries. A
115-page leader's guide organizes step-by-step planning for nine 90-minute
sessions. Three participant handbooks are included in each kit; additional
handbooks are available. A video and CD-ROM supplement the training
curriculum. The cost is $49.99 per kit; order online at
www.abwministries.org/store or call 1-800-4-JUDSON.

Women of the Word is a new Bible study series for women to use personally
and in groups.	Joyce Anderson-Reed, an American Baptist missionary to
Mexico, wrote the series' first resource: six Bible studies on language,
faith and the mystery of God's Word. Anderson-Reed uses humor and personal
illustrations to relate her family's immersion into a different culture and
language, likening the experience to the spiritual journey that leads one
into deeper understandings of the language of God. "Women of the Word is an
ideal resource for women in the church who want to grow in the Lord
together-I recommend it as an excellent option for women who choose not to
participate in traditional ABW Ministries activities," Holmstrom said.	The
resource is priced at $9.

The new two-year English language program resource packet, Keeping Balance
While the World Turns, has now also been translated into Spanish:
Manteniendo el balance: mientras que el mundo gira, Ministerios de las
Mujeres Bautistas Americanas Recursos programaticos para el 2003-2005.
Miriam Chacsn Peralta translated and contextualized the content; Noemi Ayuso
assisted with copyediting. The English and Spanish language program packets
(each with accompanying CD-ROM) supply programs, ideas and resources for
local church ministries with women. The cost is $15.

All resources produced by American Baptist Women's Ministries are available
in the online store at www.abwministries.org, or by calling 1-800-4-JUDSON.
