Introducing Online Giving
The Church Finance Council introduces online giving, a new, easy and secure
way for Disciples to make a difference in the lives of others that is
available 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week. Go to
http://www.churchfinancecouncil.org/ and click the "Give Online" link. All
donations go to the Disciples Mission Fund and will support the worldwide
outreach of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Hispanic Disciples Mourn Ferdinand and Salomi Garcma
Ferdinand Garcia, a pioneer of "la Obra Hispana" of the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada, died quietly
Saturday, July 12, 2003 surrounded by his family, friends and his church
brothers and sisters. Ferdinand was married to Salomi for 63 years. She
died shortly after her husband, on Monday, July 14. For more information

July 27 Is General Assembly Promotion Sunday
Congregations are asked to promote the General Assembly during services on
July 27. Remember, the 2003 General Assembly will take place Oct. 17-21 in
Charlotte, NC and will be a time of spiritual renewal, mission, education

First Spirit Walk Registrant Offers Pledge and Challenge

Husband of Former Disciples Moderator Passes
Lee Moffett, the husband of former moderator and board member, Marilyn
Moffett, died on July 13. Calling was on Wednesday, July 16 from 4-8 p.m.
with a Masonic Rite at 8 p.m. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday,
July 17 at Shoemaker Funeral Home in Waynetown, Ind. Cards may be sent to

Active Disciples Leader and Former Lynchburg College Dean and
Culver-Stockton College President Dies
Fred Helsabeck Sr., president of Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo.,
from 1956 to 1973 and dean of Lynchburg College from 1945 to 1952, died
Thursday, July 10, in Richmond, Virginia, at the age of 94. An active
leader in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Dr. Helsabeck served
as president of the State Convention of Disciples of Christ for Virginia
and the Annual Assembly of the Virginia Christian Churches. For more
