Jim Emerson, Wabash stated clerk, dies

LOUISVILLE - James J. "Jim" Emerson, 75, the stated clerk of the Presbytery
of Wabash Valley and a former moderator of the Synod of Lincoln Trails, died
on Aug. 20.

Emerson, a Cincinnati native, graduated from Purdue University with a degree
in electrical engineering and served in the U.S. Army. He then returned to
Purdue, where he made a 37-year-long career in campus theaters. When he
retired, he was technical director of the Edward C. Elliott Hall of Music.

Emerson was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Lafayette, IN, where
he was a deacon and elder and served on the session. He also worked as a
volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and for local programs for the aging.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Nancy Jo; a daughter, Emily Chidester
of Punta, FL; a son, John Emerson of Edmonds, WA; and a brother, George
Emerson of Fort Myers, FL.
