American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 9/30/03)--American Baptist
International Ministries has announced that a limited number of spaces are
still available for the inaugural Heritage Mission Adventure in Ghana, June
1-14, 2004, co-sponsored by International Ministries and the Ghana Baptist
Convention.
The Heritage Mission Adventure will provide opportunities for American
Baptists to explore their historical, cultural and faith ties to West Africa
and Ghana and to strengthen relationships between the Ghana Baptist
Convention and American Baptist churches.
Participants will visit a number of historical and cultural sites,
especially those with significance to African Americans. Together with
leaders of the Ghana Baptist Convention, they will visit project sites and
ministries of the Convention and participate in worship, fellowship and
ministry in selected churches.
The Republic of Ghana, formerly known as the Gold Coast, won independence
from Great Britain in 1957. Ghana is located on Africa's tropical west
coast, on the Gulf of Guinea.
The basic cost of $3,000 includes one-day orientation in Chicago; roundtrip
airfare between Chicago and Ghana; in-country lodging, food, transportation,
tips and fees; administrative costs; and a ministry gift to the Ghana
Baptist Convention. Participants are also responsible for their roundtrip
transportation to/from Chicago, hotel stay in Chicago (if necessary) and
personal costs such as passports, visas and spending money.
International Ministries' area director for Africa, the Rev. Charles H.
Jones, and the Rev. Kojo Amo, general secretary of the Ghana Baptist
Convention, will host the mission adventure.
To register or to obtain more information call International Ministries at
1-800-ABC-3USA/x2184 or 2191 before Nov. 15, 2003.
