ABCUSA: Transitions Announced at ABC-Related Theological Schools

American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 11/19/03)--Leadership
transitions have been announced at Andover Newton Theological School, Newton
Centre, Mass., and Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Kans.,
both related to American Baptist Churches USA.

The Rev. Dr. Benjamin Griffin, president at Andover Newton since 1995,
announced this month that he will be retiring from that position June 30,
2004.  Griffin also has served the school as professor of liturgics.  He
previously was president of the United Theological School of the Twin Cities
in Minnesota.

The Rev. James McCrossen, an ordained American Baptist, has been appointed
interim president at Central.  He was named to that position by the school's
Board of Directors at a meeting earlier this month.  McCrossen serves on a
number of boards, including Central's.	Dr. Thomas Clifton announced his
retirement as president in August.  

Ten seminaries and theological schools and 16 colleges and universities
officially are related to American Baptist Churches USA.
