TEMPE, AZ - The board of trustees of Cook College & Theological School
recently announced the appointment of the Rev. Howard L. Rice as the school's
interim president. Rice is a former General Assembly moderator of the
Presbyterian Church (USA) and author of several books. He succeeds the Rev.
Emerson Falls, who resigned earlier this year for health reasons. A search is
underway for a fulltime replacement.

MONTREAT, NC - The Rev. John Akers, a Presbyterian minister and special
assistant to Evangelist Billy Graham, will be keynote speaker at Montreat
College's Opening Convocation ceremony on Jan. 13. The event officially kicks
off the school's spring semester. Akers has taught at Montreat College and
served as its academic dean. His responsibilities under Graham include
assisting with research, administration and special projects.

STERLING, KS - Eight Sterling College students will travel to Pusan, South
Korea as part of a "Share Your World" Interterm trip being offered through
the college from Dec. 31 to Jan. 27. Group members will teach English as a
Second Language (ESL) at the Mission Language School of Sooyoungro
Presbyterian Church. The language school is a church ministry that trains its
future missionaries while reaching out to Buddhists in the city.
