	The Rev. Jo Jerrell, one of the first women to serve as an executive
presbyter in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), died suddenly on Dec. 3.
	Jerrell first began her service as a presbytery executive in San
Fernando Presbyery in the early 1970s. She later served the presbyteries of
Nevada, Sacramento, San Joaquin and Stockton. After her retirement she
continued to live in the Sacramento area.
	A memorial service has been scheduled for Dec. 29 at Faith
Presbyterian Church in Sacramento, CA..

	The Rev. Alan Ford, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Newport,
AR, has been elected moderator-elect of the Synod of the Sun. He will be
active in the synod's leadership for the next two years, after which he will
be installed as moderator for a two-year term.
	Ford has been the pastor of the Newport congregation since 1977. The
English-born churchman emigrated to the U.S. in the 1950s and graduated from
Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1975. He served as moderator of
Arkansas Presbytery in 1999 and is currently a trustee of Lyon College, a
Presbyterian-related school in Batesville, AR.

	The Rev. Bruce Evans, former stated clerk of Elizabeth Presbytery,
died Oct. 29.
	Ordained in 1941, Evans served in the U.S. Navy during World War II,
returning to serve as pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, NJ,
from 1946 until he retired in 1981. He served Elizabeth Presbytery as its
stated clerk for many years.
	Evans is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter Janet and her husband
David Trample in Illinois; a son, Bruce and his wife Susan in Connecticut;
two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
