	The Rev. Zane K. Buxton was elected synod executive for the Synod of
the Rocky Mountains at the Nov. 8 meeting of the synod assembly. He will be
installed during a worship service at the March synod assembly meeting.

	Buxton has been serving as interim synod executive since November
2001. Prior to that he served in the Constitutional Services department of
the Office of the General Assembly in Louisville. He has also served
pastorates in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.

	David Dwyer, a jack of all trades, gifted poet and husband of
renowned author Kathleen Norris, died Oct. 24 at Kuakini Hospital in
Honolulu, Hawaii. He has been afflicted with severe respiratory problems for
many years  and, in the words of one of his poems "died, like everyone else,
of natural causes." He was 57.

	A native of White Plains, NY, Dwyer grew up in the Adirondack
mountains, graduated from LeMoyne College in Syracuse and did graduate work
in classical Greek at the University of Chicago. It was in Chicago he gained
fame as a bartender at Jimmy's Woodlawn Tap.

	Dwyer met Norris while working in advertising in New York in 1973.
During their life together they divided their time between Lemmon, SD, and
Hawaii.

	The Rev. Rollin Kirk, a gifted pastor and lifelong friend of this
writer, died Dec. 16, after fighting a rare and virulent form of cancer for
several years. He was 56.

	A native of Puyallup, WA, Kirk most recently served as pastor of
North Presbyterian Church in North St. Paul, MN. Services are pending.

	Kirk is survived by his wife, Sue, and two sons.

	Westminster John Knox Press has appointed Jon L. Berquist as senior
academic editor for biblical studies. He began his new work Nov. 10. Berquist
is a graduate of Northwest Christian College and holds an M.A. and a Ph.D.
from Vanderbilt University. He has taught at Phillips Graduate Seminary in
Tulsa, OK; New Brunswick (NJ) Theological Seminary; Eden Theological Seminary
in St. Louis; and Vanderbilt University Divinity School. He previously served
on the staff of Westminster John Knox from 1994-1997 and most recently served
as academic editor for Chalice Press.

	Also, Patrick D. Miller, a professor at Princeton Theological
Seminary, will join Westminster John Knox on Jan. 1 as an editorial
consultant. In addition to Princeton, Miller has served on the faculty of
Union Theological Seminary/Presbyterian School of Christian Education in
Richmond, VA.
