ST. PAUL, MN - Macalester College celebrated the inauguration of Brian C.
Rosenberg as its 16th president on March 6 with a dinner for trustees and
donors and a party for students, faculty, staff and alumni. Rosenberg is a
former dean of faculty at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI.

SITKA, AK - The Rev. Jerry L. Van Marter, coordinator of the Presbyterian
News Service, has been elected to the board of trustees of Sheldon Jackson
College. Van Marter, a native of Tacoma, WA, also is on the boards of
directors of the Associated Church Press and the Presbyterian Writers Guild.

GROVE CITY, PA - Beginning this fall, Grove City College will offer a new
major in computer science. The curriculum was developed after a survey of the
best computer-science programs at 20 U.S. schools, including Carnegie Mellon
University, Stanford University and MIT.

DANVILLE, KY - A research paper by Centre College senior Sarah Hermann has
been published in The Pierian Spring, an undergraduate humanities journal.
Hermann, of Louisville, KY, wrote the piece - "Art and Activism: Heaney's
Response to Conflict in Northern Ireland" - for an Irish literature course.
It examines poet Seamus Heaney's treatment of Catholic-Protestant conflict.
