	Convention addresses neighbors needs

	Delegates yesterday (July 12) adopted several resolutions that
speak to efforts of the Synod to address human-care issues locally and

	Delegates and leaders urged to personal mission

	We live on earth only so that we should be a help to other
people, said Rev. Joel Lehenbauer in the Bible study he presented
yesterday (July 12) at the Synod convention. (For more, go to

	Convention rejects change of Bible translation
	suggested for catechism in new hymnal

	By a narrow vote of 580 to 585, delegates Monday (July 12)
defeated a resolution that would have changed the Bible translation of
Scripture passages in Luthers Small Catechism in Lutheran Service
Book, the proposed new hymnal for the Synod. (For more, go to
