	Thrivent chairman tells convention

	Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a Minneapolis-based
financial-services organization, is financially sound, protecting
members, managing expense and recruiting quality employees, said John O.
Gilbert, Thrivent board chairman, in a brief address to the convention

	Convention commemorates Black higher ed,
	supports family-life ministers on roster

	The Centennial for Black Higher Education within the Synod will
be recognized with a special celebration in conjunction with the 2006
Black Ministry Family Convocation, according to a resolution passed

	Delegates ask for seminary-funding plan,
	promotion of stewardship education

	A new Board for Pastoral Education was directed in a resolution
adopted yesterday (July 12) to undertake as its immediate first task a
systemic study of funding models for theological education with the

	Convention affirms laity ministry programs,
	amends Commissioned Ministry Colloquy bylaws

	The Council of Presidents of The Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod,
the new Board for Pastoral Education and the Seminarys seminary
faculties will develop a curriculum for lay-training programs under a

	Zehnder: Share the Gospel
	with everyone whos alive

	Everyone with whom we come in contact  if theyre still
breathing  maybe God is keeping them alive so that we can share the

	Convention says to keep talking with ELCA

	The convention today acknowledged concerns expressed by the
Synods Praesidium regarding the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
(ELCA) and encouraged substantive conversations with that church body.

	Presiding Bishop Hanson expresses appreciation
	for convention action to continue ELCA discussions

	The presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
