ADVISORY

NATIONAL COALITION ON HEALTH CARE
 TO LAUNCH HEALTH REFORM CAMPAIGN
Religious Leaders Join Business, Labor, and Others To Voice Dissatisfaction
With Status Quo and
 Urge Comprehensive Reform
Tuesday, July 20, 2004	w 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. w Washington, D.C.

Alarmed at the deepening health care crisis and dissatisfied with
incrementalism, a national, non-partisan coalition representing businesses
and many of the nations largest labor, consumer, provider, pension, and
religious groups-including the National Council of Churches USA-will release
its recommendations for system-wide reform. The goals of the reform would
be to insure all Americans, control rapidly rising health care costs, and
dramatically improve quality and patient safety.

As the presidential campaign heats up, the National Coalition on Health
Care, whose almost 100 members represent 150 million Americans, is working
to accelerate and frame a renewed national debate on how to build a better
health care system. Their health reform recommendations, the result of a
year of study and deliberation, are intended to embolden the nations
political leaders to act soon to address the health care crisis.

Coalition leaders will offer their recommendations, details on why it is
important to enact system-wide reform, and steps their organizations will be
taking in the coming months to move the debate forward regardless of who is
elected President or wins control of Congress in November.
