911: RESPOND TO THE CALL
The Sept. 11, 2001 tragedy will be recognized in Indianapolis with an
interfaith effort that brings together the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ) and the Muslim community. This year's activities also have
been extended to the larger faith community as a way of building bridges
of hope and understanding with people of all faith traditions.
Volunteers are needed to assist in painting homes, mending fences and
picking up litter. All of the events will take place on Sept. 11 and
have been organized by members of the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ), Nur-Allah Islamic Center and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. To
participate, contact Linda Broadfoot at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. She
can be reached at lbroadfoot@kibi.org or 317-264-7555 ext. 112. For

HISPANIC PASTORS SUPPORT PROGRAM
Do you have new ideas for ministry that you want to explore with
others? Do you miss the support and challenge of conversations with
others in ministry? If you are a Hispanic pastor, you may be interested
in a new program designed to help ministers connect with their
colleagues to build long-term friendships and spiritual support. The
College of Pastoral Leaders, located at the Austin Presbyterian
Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas, is spreading the word about the
program to Hispanic pastors within the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) although the program is open to pastors of any denomination.
Small group grants are available that can help pastors remain strong,
resilient and energetic throughout their ministry. For more information
on the program go to: http://www.austinseminary.edu/ and click on "The
College of Pastoral Leaders." Much of the material is written in
Spanish.

CHRISTIAN CHURCH FOUNDATION COMPLETES INCLUSIVENESS TRAINING
The staff of the Christian Church Foundation has completed
inclusiveness training, a specific project that fosters better awareness
toward people, regardless of gender, race or sexual preference. The
two-day session was led by Cornell Thomas, director of diversity and
special assistant to the chancellor at Texas Christian University in
Fort Worth, Texas. Staff was challenged to see and develop relations
with individuals, rather than to view people based on group
characteristics. CCF will now work to incorporate the inclusiveness
goals into a new strategic plan being developed this fall. For more
details, go to http://www.disciples.org/ccf/About_Us/CCFnews.html
