American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 9/2/04)--Evergreen Baptist Church of Los Angeles has responded to the appeals of International Ministries leaders for increased support of American Baptist missionaries by offering to produce, at its own expense, a multi-use DVD featuring highlights of the World Mission Conference. The Rev. Dr. Ken Fong, Evergreen's senior pastor, has confirmed that the DVD will be produced by San Young, a multimedia specialist and church member. International Ministries will handle duplication and will make the DVD available to all American Baptist congregations this fall in conjunction with the World Mission Offering promotion.  

Fong, who led daily Bible studies at the recent World Mission Conference at Green Lake, Wis., challenged conferees to double their gifts to this year's World Mission Offering, in order to erase International Ministries' $1.5 million deficit, keep all missionaries on the field, and enable those whom God is calling today to begin serving in global mission. 

In an article in his church's most recent newsletter, Fong said he came away from the World Mission Conference with a "completely transformed mind and heart" and a renewed concern for American Baptist global missionaries. He challenged his congregation to "exceed the faith goal of doubling our gift this year" and pledged to challenge other American Baptist pastors to do the same.

"This is an inspiration to International Ministries as we celebrate what God is doing in and through our missionaries around the world, and anticipate even greater blessings from God."
