Title: Taiwan's Presbyterians to Emphasize Mission Work for the Next
Half-year
Taiwan Church News 2740, 30 August - 5 September 2004
Reported by Yang Shu-hao. Translated and Rewritten by David Alexander
The general assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, following late
August meeting of its liaison committee of regional and national programme
secretaries, announced that the next six months will be spent focused on
mission work. Special foci include: completion of the Community Rebuilding
Concern Centre's programme instituted following an earthquake in 1999;
promotion of the "All People Turn To God Movement", and development of a set
of principles by which congregations will convert their facilities into venues
for both community ministry and worship.
General Secretary William J. K. Lo, now in the final half-year of his tenure,
said, "Holistic community mission is our aim. Christian churches have the
mission and purpose to proclaim and to serve. Christians must be involved in
all ways that the Kingdom of God might be actualized on Taiwan's soil and in
the hearts of all of Taiwan's people."
