FLORIDA CHURCHES DAMAGED IN HURRICANE HELP OTHERS
Although new storms are brewing off the coast of Florida, several
Disciples churches have reached out to help those impacted by Hurricane
Charley, which swept through parts of the state on August 13. The
members of Daytona Beach Drive-In Christian Church, where extensive
damage occurred, deepened their understanding of stewardship by
assisting other churches and families. To learn more about the efforts

SEMINARIANS CONFERENCE SET FOR OCTOBER
About 100 Disciples students at theological schools around the country
will meet in Nashville, Tenn., next month for the biennial Seminarians
Conference. The conference will take place from Oct. 21-24 at the
Bennett Center, near the Disciples Historical Society. Students who have
completed their first year of seminary, regardless of which institution
they attend, are invited to attend. 

The meeting is a long-standing tradition in the denomination, held in
the years between General Assemblies. It is organized by Higher
Education and Leadership Ministries and supported by the general
ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). For more

NBA MAKES ANNOUNCEMENT ON FUTURE OF NBA GATEWAYS
National Benevolent Association (NBA) officials announced on Sept. 1
that they will transition the operations of NBA Gateways to other St.
Louis area organizations within 30 days. NBA officials sought out third
parties to take over the program as a means of streamlining operations
following NBA's filing for Chapter 11 on Feb. 16.  NBA Gateways serves
117 St. Louis-area adults with disabilities. To learn more about NBA,

REGISTRATION STILL OPEN FOR CHILDREN WELCOME! CONFERENCE 
There is still time to register for the Children Welcome! - Past,
Present, Future Conference in Roanoke, Va., from Sept. 30- Oct. 2.
Adults and children are encouraged to register for the conference that
will include opportunities for idea sharing, networking and fellowship.

LEXINGTON SEMINARY ENJOYS RECORD GIVING
The Ministerial Education Fund (MEF) at Lexington Theological Seminary
has recorded a record level of giving for the 2003-2004 fiscal year. The
annual fund, which is a major source for funding for student education,
received nearly $580,000.  The previous high was set in the 1998-99
fiscal year at approximately $502,000.

The seminary's alumni also set a record for contribution in a single
year to MEF by contributing approximately $128,000 of the total. LTS
alumni annually rank as one of the national leaders in higher education
in percentage of giving to their alma mater.
