American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 9/22/04)--Randall L.
Frame, National Ministries' acquisitions editor for Judson Press, was one
of four third-place winners in this year's Templeton Foundation Power of
Purpose essay competition. The recognition includes an award of $25,000.

The Templeton competition focuses on "the question of purpose, and its
powerful effect on our lives, our families, our nations, and our world."
Frame's essay, "Fixing Haiti," drew upon his personal experience during a
week-long visit to the country in the mid-1990s. It was among the top nine
essays to be recognized from some 7,300 entries from all 50 U.S. states and
97 countries.

"We are, of course, very proud of Randy and glad for the recognition this
brings to him and to us," said Laura Alden, National Ministries' associate
executive director for Communications and Publishing. "Randy brings a
missionary purpose to all of his work. This essay simply and beautifully
expresses his focus and feelings. In particular, he reflects on how God
achieves God's purpose in our lives -- and in the lives of others -- even
when we think we are accomplishing it by ourselves."

Those interested in reading Frame's essay may access it at
www.powerofpurpose.org.

Frame plans to donate a portion of the award to International Ministries in
appreciation to Herb Rogers, an IM missionary serving in Haiti, for reading
the essay. He also will make donations to his home church and to National
Ministries, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Eastern University.

Judges for the Power of Purpose essay competition were Nancy Brinker,
founder of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; Paul Davies,
professor of Natural Philosophy, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia;
Hugh Delehanty, editor-in-chief of AARP Publications; Rick Warren, pastor
and author of The Purpose Driven Life; and Marian Wright Edelman, founder
and president of the Children's Defense Fund.

Frame joined Educational Ministries/Judson Press staff in 1997 and National
Ministries' staff in 2003. He previously had worked in the communications
office of Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wynnewood, Pa.
